Yes, yes, and yes – tonnes of materials, thousand pages, and million symbols used already to answer the questions – which one to choose, which one is right for you, how to find the best one for you, and so on. In this article, we will try to look at the same problem from a different angle – a purely non-pragmatic and irrational way of choosing a credit card. There will be no single word about transactors and interest rates, interest-free periods, and balance transfers. Just a few thoughts on what kind of drivers could force (or not even force) us to make a decision.
Ask me – what was the reason for me to open a recent credit card (number 3 in my wallet if I am not mistaken)? To open the Bank`s page, fill out the form, sent all documents, and submit the request for something that I don’t need and have already. Any guess?
Because the day before I was in the shopping mall with my friend and colleague and at the counter he took from his wallet a nice-looking mate black pure metal credit card… and magically wave this card over the POS machine to complete a transaction.
I asked him to show this card to me – it was nicely cold and heavy. The feeling it gave I could compare with having a Leica camera in your hands or winding an 007`s Omega watch if you know what I mean… so the next day I submit documents and in three days got a new credit card.
I did not even check what is T&C, rates, interest-free days, etc. – I like it so much, just how it feels – so different from all the other cards in my wallet. And I`m using it heavily because I enjoy it every time I use it. Simple as that.
Do I actually need it? No. Do I want it? Yes! My choice was driven purely by feelings and emotions. And this is one of the most powerful reasons to make a decision. Do you like it? Will it make you happy? Will you feel good? If the answer is yes – go for it!
